(Seoul=Yonhap Infomax) Dong Il Joo = Korea Land & Housing Corp. (LH) announced plans to relocate or bury power transmission towers across public housing districts nationwide to facilitate smooth housing supply.

LH stated on the 18th that it is currently undertaking relocation and undergrounding projects for 506 transmission towers spanning 148.2 kilometers across 42 districts. The total project cost is estimated at approximately 4 trillion won ($2.9 billion).

To accelerate project timelines and expedite housing supply, LH will implement both 'temporary relocation' and 'permanent relocation' strategies in parallel.

Traditionally, relocating existing transmission lines involves sequential processes such as negotiations, design, and construction, typically taking more than eight years. By adopting the parallel approach, LH expects to shorten the construction period by an average of two to three years.

Additionally, starting next year, LH will introduce a '3D Power Facility Landscape Simulation' during the urban design phase to ensure power infrastructure is planned with consideration for residents' views and sightlines.

This simulation will provide a three-dimensional visualization of power facility locations as seen from residents' windows, enabling analysis of optimal transmission facility placement and shielding measures.
