(Seoul=Yonhap Infomax) Seul Gi Yoon – Shinhan Financial Group announced it will provide a total of KRW 4.5 billion ($3.4 million) over three years to support the "Basic Food Security Corner" initiative.
Shinhan Financial Group said on the 20th that it has signed a business agreement at the Community Chest of Korea headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, together with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Community Chest of Korea, and Korea National Council on Social Welfare to promote the "Basic Food Security Corner" project.
The "Basic Food Security Corner" is a Ministry of Health and Welfare-led program designed to provide essential food and daily necessities to low-income households in South Korea, aiming to enhance social safety nets and stabilize livelihoods.
Through this agreement, Shinhan Financial Group’s funding will be used to purchase food and daily necessities, as well as to provide customized living kits for energy-vulnerable groups identified through the project.
The company also plans to expand support in the future to help reduce energy burdens, such as replacing heating and cooling systems for those in need.
A Shinhan Financial Group official stated, “Basic livelihood support is a critical task directly linked to improving the quality of life for vulnerable groups and strengthening the social safety net. We will continue to enhance public-private cooperation and strive to provide practical support to address welfare blind spots.”
