(Sejong=Yonhap Infomax) Jun Hyung Park – Vice Finance Minister Lee Hyung-il stated, "In collaboration with companies and relevant ministries, we will identify policy initiatives that provide tangible support for youth employment and announce them through our economic growth strategy."
Speaking at a joint 'Job Task Force (TF)' meeting with related ministries held at the Government Complex Seoul on the 21st, Lee added, "We plan to strengthen tailored employment services for young people who are currently inactive or seeking jobs."
He continued, "To address sluggish youth employment, we will create jobs favored by young people in new industries through artificial intelligence (AI) and ultra-innovation-driven growth, and significantly expand AI education and vocational training to enhance youth employability."
The meeting discussed recent employment trends, the current status and future direction of youth employment policies, and the progress of direct job creation programs.
According to October employment data released by the National Data Office, overall labor market indicators such as the employment rate (63.4%) remain robust. However, employment conditions remain challenging for the manufacturing and construction sectors, as well as for the youth demographic (ages 15–29).
