(Seoul=Yonhap Infomax) Jae Heon Lee – K-water (Korea Water Resources Corporation) announced on the 21st that it has been selected as a member of the 'LEAD Group' at the '2025 Korea Leaders Summit' hosted by the UN Global Compact (UNGC) Korea Network.

The UNGC, launched by the United Nations headquarters in 2000, is the world's largest sustainability initiative. Its mission is to promote corporate social responsibility and sustainable growth by encouraging adherence to ten principles covering human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.

The LEAD Group designation is awarded to the top 10 companies among 369 UNGC Korea Network members that have demonstrated leadership in ESG (environmental, social responsibility, and corporate governance) and sustainable management, and have made substantial contributions toward achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). K-water is the only public sector entity to be included in this group.

Since joining the UNGC in 2007, K-water has continued efforts to advance the SDGs, including support for vulnerable groups in local communities, implementation of ethical and human rights management policies, and climate crisis response initiatives. Notably, this year, K-water became the first Korean company to achieve RE100 (100% renewable energy), supporting the nation’s greenhouse gas reduction targets (NDC). The company is also strengthening a management system focused on safety, energy, and artificial intelligence (AI) in line with government policy, aiming to enhance public safety and national industrial competitiveness.
