(New York=Yonhap Infomax) Jin Woo Choi – Michael Barr, a member of the Board of Governors at the US Federal Reserve (Fed), emphasized on the 21st (local time) that "to make the best decisions, monetary policy must be conducted independently from short-term political pressures."
Speaking at the 2025 National College Fed Challenge Finals held at the Federal Reserve, Barr stated, "We will carefully review the latest available data on economic and financial conditions."
He added, "We will make the best judgment on the policy stance that most effectively advances the Fed’s dual mandate of maximum employment and price stability."
Barr further explained, "We strive to listen to each other's views, evaluate appropriate policies, and weigh the risks that economic and financial conditions may unfold in unexpected ways."
He also noted, "A critical factor for the success of monetary policy decisions is to clearly communicate the actions and intentions of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) to the public."
