GS Caltex Becomes First in Asia to Receive International Certification for Entire End-of-Life Vehicle Plastic Recycling Process

(Seoul=Yonhap Infomax) Pil Joong Jeong – GS Caltex, a major South Korean oil refiner, announced on the 24th that it has become the first company in Asia to obtain the global environmental certification (RecyClass) for the entire value chain of end-of-life vehicle (ELV) plastic recycling.

This certification is a key requirement for responding to environmental policies such as the use of recycled materials regulations and the plastic tax in Europe.

In countries like Spain, certified products are eligible for tax benefits, underscoring the credibility of the certification. As of September this year, over 60% of the European recycling industry has adopted this certification.

Through this achievement, GS Caltex has verified that the quality, traceability, and transparency of its entire process—from the production of recycled raw materials from end-of-life vehicles to the manufacturing and sales of composite resins—meet official standards.

GS Caltex stated that this certification provides a foundation for proactively responding to tightening European environmental regulations and expanding global markets. The company also secured international credibility for its low-carbon composite resin products.
