(Sejong=Yonhap Infomax) Jun Hyung Park – The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF) emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation with international financial institutions from a pragmatic, national interest-oriented perspective.

On the 24th, the MOEF, led by Moon Ji-sung, Director-General of the Development Finance Bureau, convened the third Interagency Council on International Financial Institution Projects to discuss recent changes in multilateral development banks’ (MDBs) procurement policies, the direction of Korea’s trust fund support, and cooperation plans with international financial institutions through 2026.

The meeting brought together officials from the MOEF, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, as well as major public institutions including the Export-Import Bank of Korea.

Director-General Moon noted, “Recently, each institution has been strengthening quality-focused procurement policies. This presents new opportunities for Korean companies and institutions with advanced technological capabilities.”

He further stressed, “It is necessary to adjust the priority support areas of trust funds and the evaluation criteria for candidate projects in line with the new administration’s policy direction. Inter-ministerial collaboration is crucial in this process.”

The MOEF shared key cooperation plans for next year, including annual meetings and high-level consultations with international financial institutions, as well as recruitment and procurement briefings, and requested active cooperation from relevant agencies.

In particular, the ministry urged Korean companies to actively participate in the ‘2025 MDB Procurement Briefing’ scheduled for the 25th, where they can directly access information on promising candidate projects.

The MOEF added, “We will expand collaboration with relevant ministries and agencies to promote integrated and effective cooperation with international financial institutions, and will strengthen policy efforts to better serve the national interest.”
