(Seoul=Yonhap Infomax) Ji Seo Jeong – Prime Minister Kim Min-seok on the 24th emphasized the need for restraint in the activities of the government innovation task force (TF) established to investigate public officials involved in the December 3 martial law incident.
Speaking at an orientation session attended by working-level staff from the Prime Minister’s Office’s central TF and individual ministry TFs, Kim stated, “The investigation should be strictly limited to matters directly related to insurrection and must be concluded as swiftly as possible within the designated timeframe.”
The Prime Minister’s Office announced that TFs have now been established across all 49 administrative agencies and have commenced operations.
Kim further stressed, “The scope, duration, media exposure, and methods of the TF’s activities must all be exercised with restraint. The TF’s work should be conducted strictly confidentially, with respect for human rights and in full compliance with due process.”
He warned, “Any TF activities or members failing to exercise restraint will be immediately corrected.”
Kim added, “The sole objective of the TF’s work is to ensure rational personnel decisions. I urge you to maintain maximum focus through the year-end and New Year period, and to approach all investigative activities with humility.”
