US Commerce Department to Release September PCE Data on December 5—Advance Q3 GDP Estimate Canceled

(Seoul=Yonhap Infomax) Sung Jin Kim = The US Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) announced on the 24th (local time) that the release of September Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) data, originally scheduled for October 31, has been rescheduled to December 5.

The delay comes as a result of the record-long federal government shutdown, which temporarily halted operations. The PCE report includes the PCE Price Index, the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) will hold its final meeting of the year over two days starting December 9.

The advance estimate (first release) of third-quarter Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which was due on October 30, has been canceled. The second estimate of Q3 GDP, initially set for November 26, will also be rescheduled.
