(New York=Yonhap Infomax) Jin Woo Choi—On the 24th (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump announced, "I just had a very good phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping."
Writing on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump stated, "We discussed a range of topics, including the Ukraine-Russia situation, the fentanyl issue, soybeans, and other agricultural products."
Trump emphasized, "We reached an agreement that is very important and highly beneficial for our farmers, and things will continue to improve going forward."
He added, "This call was a follow-up to the successful meeting held three weeks ago in South Korea. Since then, we have made significant progress in keeping our agreements up to date and accurate."
Trump continued, "President Xi invited me to visit Beijing in April next year, and I have accepted. In return, I have invited him to make a state visit to the United States later that year."
He further noted, "We agreed that it is important to communicate frequently, and I look forward to that as well."
Unlike reports from China's Xinhua News Agency, Trump's post made no mention of Taiwan.
Xinhua reported that during the call, President Xi told Trump that the return of Taiwan to China is a core part of the international order established after World War II.
