LS Group Conducts Executive Reshuffle—Third-Generation Koo Dong-hwi Promoted to President

(Seoul=Yonhap Infomax) Eun Byul Yun — LS Group (KRX: 006260), a major South Korean chaebol, announced on the 25th that its board of directors has approved executive appointments for the 2026 fiscal year.

LS Group stated that it has largely retained the CEOs of its key affiliates, aiming to minimize organizational changes and focus on stability and operational efficiency.

The group also emphasized that it will accelerate new business initiatives to achieve its long-term vision and secure future growth opportunities.

In this round of appointments, Koo Dong-hwi, the only son of LS Group Chairman Koo Ja-yeol and CEO of LS MnM, was promoted from Executive Vice President to President.

Born in 1982, President Koo joined LS Electric’s management strategy division as a deputy general manager in 2013, subsequently holding positions at LS and E1 (KRX: 017940), before taking the helm at LS MnM in 2024.

President Koo has rapidly restored profitability in the group’s smelting business through efficient operational management, including increased precious metals sales. He is also set to lead the group’s push into core battery materials such as nickel sulfate and precursors, a key pillar of LS Group’s vision to build an electric vehicle materials ecosystem.

Performance-based promotions were also made, reflecting the strong performance of the group’s power business.

An Gil-young and Chae Dae-seok, Executive Directors at LS Electric, which posted significant growth this year, and Cho Ui-je, Executive Director at LS ITC, who led the group’s AI-driven operational efficiency, were all promoted to Vice President.

LS Group said these 2026 executive appointments are designed to strengthen its response to internal and external uncertainties and crises, while accelerating the “Vision 2030” strategy being vigorously pursued by Chairman Koo Ja-eun.

In this round, one executive was promoted to President (Koo Dong-hwi), and three to Vice President (An Gil-young and Chae Dae-seok of LS Electric, and Cho Ui-je of LS ITC).

Five executives were promoted to Executive Director: Lee Chung-hee, Cho Uk-dong, Park Woo-beom, and Yoon Won-ho (all LS Electric), and Kim Sang-moo (E1). Nine were promoted to Managing Director: Lee Jin-ho, Choi Jong-seop, and Choi Hae-woon (all LS Electric); Lee Seung-gon and Kim Dong-hwan (LS MnM); Song In-deok (LS Mtron); Lee Chang-woo (INVENI); Kim Eun-il (Yesco); and Kim Geun-sik (Gaon Cable).

Additionally, 12 new directors were appointed: Ji Ye-gyu, Son Si-ho, and Yoo Chang-woo (LS Cable & System); Yoo Dong-il, Park Jun-seok, Choi Kyu-tae, and Baek Seung-taek (LS Electric); Lee Jeong-tae (LS MnM); Kim Myung-hoon (LS Mtron); Kang Ki-hoon (E1); Lee Je-hwan (Yesco); and Kim Young-ho (Gaon Cable).

All appointments are effective January 1, 2026.
