(Seoul=Yonhap Infomax) Eun Byul Yun = Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp. announced on the 25th that their combined vehicle sales in the European market totaled 81,540 units in October, marking a 1.4% decrease from the same period last year.


Hyundai Motor sold 41,137 units, down 0.8% year-on-year, while Kia recorded 40,403 units, a 2% decline from a year earlier.


Their combined market share in Europe stood at 7.5%, a 0.5 percentage point drop from October 2023. Hyundai Motor’s share was 3.8%, while Kia’s was 3.7%.

For Kia, the Sportage led sales with 11,960 units, trailed by the Ceed (6,271 units) and the EV3 (5,463 units).


The overall European auto market saw sales reach 1,091,904 units in October, up 4.9% from a year earlier.


From January to October this year, Hyundai Motor and Kia’s cumulative sales in Europe totaled 879,479 units, a 2.8% decrease year-on-year. Their market share for the period was 8.0%, down 0.4 percentage points from the previous year.
