(New York=Yonhap Infomax) Jin Woo Choi – U.S. President Donald Trump stated on the 25th (local time) that “over the past week, our team has made tremendous progress on ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.”
Posting on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump assessed the situation, saying, “The original 28-point peace plan drafted by the United States has been refined to incorporate additional feedback from both sides, and now only a few differences remain.”
Trump explained, “As part of efforts to finalize the peace agreement, I have instructed Special Envoy Steve Witkoff (Middle East) to meet with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, while Army Secretary Dan Driscoll is scheduled to meet with the Ukrainian side.”
He added, “I expect President (Volodymyr) Zelensky and President Putin to meet directly in the near future, but this will only be possible when an agreement to end the war is in its final or near-final stage.”
Trump concluded, “Let us all hope that peace can be achieved as soon as possible.”
