(New York=Yonhap Infomax) Jin Woo Choi—Nvidia stated on the 25th (local time) that “Nvidia is a generation ahead of the industry.”
On its official X account (formerly Twitter), Nvidia posted, “We welcome Google’s success. They have made significant progress in artificial intelligence (AI), and we continue to supply chips to Google.”
Nvidia further emphasized, “(Nvidia AI chips) run every AI model and are the only platform that can be deployed in every computing environment.”
The company added, “Nvidia delivers higher performance, broader applicability, and greater interchangeability than application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) designed for particular AI frameworks or functions.”
Google’s Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) is a representative ASIC product, optimized for specific computational tasks. Google recently announced plans to sell TPUs to external customers.
According to U.S. online media outlet The Information, Meta Platforms Inc. is reportedly considering using Google’s TPUs in its data centers by 2027.
As Google appears to challenge Nvidia’s dominance, the two companies’ share prices diverged on the day.
As of 14:28 in New York, Nvidia shares were trading at $175.2450, down 4.00% from the previous session. At the same time, Alphabet Class A shares rose 1.21% to $322.4400.
